Loading…Grimoire's Deck Coach builds the 99 with you — one pillar at a time, starting from the cards already in your shoebox. It shows its work: every card it stages comes with a reason, every cut waits for your say-so, and it cites the actual rule it's leaning on. No two conversations go the same way, so no two decks come out the same.
Your collection, decks and playtesting are free forever. No card needed, no spreadsheet.

Why it's different
Grimoire's coach starts from what you own, argues its case, and lets you overrule it. What you end up with is a deck you can actually pilot — because you decided every card in it.
The coach knows what's in your collection and reaches for those cards first. You get a list you could mostly assemble tonight — not a $900 aspiration with your commander on top.
Every card it wants comes with a reason, and every cut waits on your confirmation. Push back, set a budget, tell it you hate a card — the build bends around you, and the conversation never runs the same way twice.
It cites the Comprehensive Rules by number, names your deck's power bracket and defends the call, and explains what each card is doing. You're not copying a list — you're learning the deck.
Shows its work
“What's the weakest part of this deck?”
A generic deck tool gives you a power-level score. The coach reads your list and answers with your cards: which counts are off and by how much, the single highest-impact change available, the exact cards it would cut for it — and then it stops and asks whether you want it done. Nothing moves in your deck until you say so.

Collection-first
Every deck says how close it is, names the exact cards missing, and totals what finishing it would cost. Mark a deck built and it claims its copies, so your other decks stop pretending you own the same card five times.

The whole grimoire
Cataloguing, value, playtesting, and a strategy manual for every deck — one app instead of five browser tabs.
Quantity, finish, condition and what you actually paid, backed by real Scryfall data. Scan a pile with your phone's camera or import a CSV instead of typing four hundred card names.

An illuminated strategy manual written from your actual list — what the deck wants, how it opens, the lines that win, and how to pilot it. Themed to your commander's colours, and shareable with your pod.

Portfolio value over time, gains since purchase, and an honest cost basis: tag a card as a pack pull and Grimoire stops pretending you paid retail for it. No other app does that.
Goldfish a deck solo to feel out the curve, spar with a bot that takes real turns and explains itself, or spin up a four-player Commander pod with friends.
Open any commander and see what the community actually runs, organised by role, with synergy on the card art — and the ones you already own marked at a glance.
Open beta · updated July 27, 2026
Grimoire is live, free to use, and still being built in the open. Here's the honest state of it — what works, what's rough, and what's next.
Shipped, used daily, and supported.
Real, but still being shaped.
Being built right now.
The new playtest board
The “digital SpellTable” table is taking shape: real card art everywhere, a maximized battlefield with a full-height control rail, click any seat to spotlight their board, and everyone’s open mana right on the scoreboard. Still being dialed in, but it’s looking sharp.
In-game AI judge
Ask “what happens here?” right at the table and get a rules-grounded answer instead of a best guess. Live, and getting sharper.
A real match start
The full pre-game is here: a parchment lobby → ready up → roll for first (the dice reveal one at a time, and a tie rerolls live for the whole table) → mulligan your opening hand — all before the board appears.
Mana you have to pay
Optional mana enforcement — only cast what your lands can actually pay for, with tap-for-mana built in.
One brain across everything
The coach, the hubs, your recommendations and card pages are converging on a single shared understanding of every card — so the more the community plays here, the smarter all of it gets at once.
Ongoing polish
Steady refinements across the board as your feedback rolls in — keep it coming.
Your collection & portfolio
Catalogue every card you own with quantity, condition and value, import an existing collection straight from a Moxfield CSV, and watch live prices roll up into a portfolio you can actually track.
Deck building
Build and edit decks, get an instant Quick Read on any list, and “Build from what you own” to spin up a deck straight from your shelf.
The AI Deck Coach
Pick a commander and build the 99 together in a live panel beside the chat — the coach preps the next pillar while you review this one, stages cards for your approval right in the builder, and executes the cuts you confirm. It cites the actual Comprehensive Rules by number, estimates your deck's power bracket, and grounds its calls in real tournament results and community deck data — preferring the cards you already own. Refresh the page mid-build and it picks up where you left off.
The rest of the AI toolkit
Roast a deck, run a deep analysis, get collection insights, ask the rules, compare two cards, or snap a photo to scan a card — all grounded in your collection.
Commander hubs & synergy — now owned-aware
Open any commander and see what the community actually runs, with synergy shown as a gold heat-map right on the card art and organised by type — and the cards you already own marked at a glance. The same synergy read follows a card everywhere in the app now, so nothing contradicts itself.
Card suggestions that know your shelf
Every deck has a Suggestions tab that recommends cards to add — the ones you already own first — each with a plain-language why: its role, what it enables, and when to cut it. It's the answer generic deck sites never give, personalised to your collection.
A collection that knows what's free to build
Your one physical copy no longer reads as "owned" in five decks at once. Mark a deck built and it claims its cards; the others honestly show what you still need — so "ready to play" finally means it.
Combo coaching, not just a combo line
Combos now tell you whether the line actually wins (or just loops), cite the real rule, show the tutors that fetch the missing piece — flagged by what you own — and how to protect it. No more sending you to another site.
Turn-by-turn goldfishing & instant starters
The solo playtest now tracks turns and phases with a log you can read back by turn — so you can see exactly when your deck comes online. And a single click spins up a coherent, playable starter deck with a sensible land count to build from.
Solo & multiplayer playtest
Goldfish any deck on your own to feel out the curve, or spin up a real 4-player Commander pod that stays in sync turn after turn — fill empty seats with practice hands to walk the flow solo.
Bots that actually play
Sparring puts a practice opponent across the table that takes real turns, fights back, and explains what it's doing — so a solo session feels like a pod instead of empty chairs. Practice hands can fill the empty seats in a multiplayer pod too.
Best build at your bracket
Power bracket is now a first-class axis: filter any commander hub by Bracket 2, 3 or 4 and see that bracket's real numbers instead of one blended average. The coach builds to the bracket you choose, never recommends a card that breaks it, and can estimate where your deck lands — and show its reasoning.
The Deck Codex
Every deck can become an illuminated strategy manual: what the deck wants, how it opens, the lines that win, the combos, and how to pilot it — written from your actual list, themed to your commander's colours, and shareable with your pod.
Scan a shoebox with your camera
Point your phone at a card and the scanner reads it on a live viewfinder, capturing continuously as you flip through a pile — so getting a real collection in doesn't mean typing 400 card names.
What you paid, honestly tracked
Log how a card actually arrived — bought, traded, or pulled from a pack — and Grimoire stops pretending you paid retail for a pack pull. Open a sealed box and it becomes packs; rip a pack and it becomes cards, with the cost split honestly across them. Nobody else does this.
Plans, mana & referrals
Everything but AI is free forever. The AI tools run on a monthly mana allowance — no per-action pricing and no counting — with Collector and Pro tiers if you want more headroom. Invite friends with your referral link and you both get extra.
Feedback & the ideas board
Tell us anything from the in-app feedback button — ideas land on a shared board and get AI-triaged so the most-wanted things rise to the top.
A lot of what shipped this month exists because a beta tester said “this is wrong.” There's a feedback button on every page once you're in, ideas land on a shared board you can vote on, and the most-wanted things get built first. No account yet? Tell us anyway.
